Working on an illustration for children

Hi everyone!!!! This week I've been working in this illustration for my color class. It's basically the same technic I used on the last illustration I published here (^o^)/
It supposed to be an illustration for children, so the color is more saturated since the beginning, but I like to work in layers, so this is the result. Hope you like it. See you next week!!!!

Ink and watercolor

Hello everyone!!!!!! This time I will show you part of the inking process and I'm going to talk about  the materials that I used.
First of all you are going to need a good draw. I picked this one below. Remember that the aim of this exercise is to improve our skills, so try to pick something that is hard for you (^,^).

You may notice that there are some lines traced into the draw. Well, these lines will help you later. Think about they as a map. For example, the left shoulder is located almost above the left foot. Once you have studied the image, you can start drawing your own version of it.

Finish your sketch. It will be kind of dirty at this point, so trace it again. You can use a light box if you have one. If not, you can use tracing paper, whatever works for you. Then lets start using watercolors.

This is the brand I'm using. It's a Mexican brand, Acuarel from ATL. It's really pigmented, so, dilute is needed. Start with yellow and remember to keep the light of the paper. Work in layers to build shadows.

After using yellow, start with orange and red. Remember that you need to work in layers.
At this stage you will notice some volume. Keep working. For small details use a small brush. After applying red, you should continue with sepia or brown and then with green. Yes, green. (O.O) I couldn't believe it at first either, but trust me. I didn't have green nor sepia Acuarel, so I used Pelikan ink. Try not to mix brands unless you know they work well together.

Finally, this is the result. I thing I need to work more on it (^v^).

Hope you like it!!!
